How to read odds: Malay, HK, Indonesian and decimal
Asian betting sites usually let you switch odds formats. The first four rows below are the same price in different formats.

To convert: decimal = HK + 1. For negative Malay odds, decimal = 1 + 1 ÷ the odds (ignoring the minus sign). Example: -0.80 becomes 1 + 1 ÷ 0.80 = 2.25.
Bookmaker margin: how much is kept on each market
Implied probability = 1 ÷ decimal odds. If you add up the implied probabilities of every outcome in a market, the total comes to more than 100%. The excess is the bookmaker's margin.

Main markets usually carry lower margins, while side markets such as correct score or first goalscorer are usually higher. In combination bets (accumulators or parlays), each selection's margin stacks, so the cost rises with every selection you add.
Asian handicap and over/under
An Asian handicap gives one team a virtual goal advantage or deficit, so the market has only two outcomes.
- 0 (draw no bet): if it's a draw, your stake is returned.
- -0.5: your team must win. A draw or a loss and you lose.
- -1: win by two or more and you win. Win by exactly one and your stake is returned. A draw or loss and you lose.
- -0.25 (0/0.5): half your stake goes on 0 and half on -0.5. On a draw, half is returned and half is lost.
- Over/under 2.5: you bet on whether there will be 3 or more goals (over), or 2 or fewer (under).
Most football markets are settled on the 90-minute result including injury time, without extra time or penalties. Check the bookmaker's rules before you bet.
Badminton, basketball and esports
- Badminton: common markets include match winner, game or points handicap, and total points. The rules when a player withdraws or retires injured differ between bookmakers: some void the bet, some don't.
- Basketball: points handicap and total points. Check whether overtime counts.
- Esports: match winner and map handicap. Lower-tier matches are more exposed to match fixing. Check the rules for postponed or replayed matches.
In-play (live) betting
In-play odds change every few seconds. Bookmakers usually apply an acceptance delay and may reject a bet when the price moves. The stream you're watching may also be a few seconds behind the data the bookmaker uses.
Live betting makes it easy to bet again and again during one match, especially after a loss. Set your limit before kick-off, not during the game.
