Sic Bo at 100cuci: The Odds and House Edge of Every Bet

Sic bo uses three dice, so there are only 216 possible combinations. That means the true cost of every bet can be worked out exactly. The result: the gap between the cheapest and most expensive bets is huge.

How sic bo works

Three dice are shaken in a container. You bet on the result: the total of all three dice, a particular number appearing, or a specific combination. Each die has 6 faces, so there are 6 × 6 × 6 = 216 equally likely combinations.

Big wins on totals of 11 to 17, and Small wins on 4 to 10. Both lose if all three dice match (a triple). That's where the house edge on these bets comes from.

House edge on every bet

Worked out from 216 combinations. Payouts differ between tables; each house edge only applies to the payout shown.

You can check this yourself for any bet with a single payout rate: multiply (payout + 1) by the number of winning combinations, divide by 216, then subtract 1. For a specific triple at 180:1: 181 × 1 ÷ 216 = 0.838. You can expect 83.8 sen back for every RM1, a house edge of 16.2%.

Multiplier variants

Some live sic bo tables add random multipliers to certain results. To pay for them, the ordinary payouts are often lower than the standard table. Multipliers make big wins look more frequent, but they don't necessarily lower the house edge. Check the rules panel for a published RTP or house edge.

Before you play sic bo

  • Big and Small are the cheapest options. High-payout bets are the most expensive.
  • Dice have no memory. Three Bigs in a row don't make Small more likely.
  • Work out your expected loss: RM10 × 100 rounds on Big = RM1,000 wagered, an expected loss of about RM28. The same amount on a specific triple at 150:1 is expected to lose about RM301.
  • Set a limit before you play. See the responsible gambling guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest sic bo bet?

Big and Small, with a house edge of about 2.78%. Both lose when a triple appears, and that is the only house edge on these bets.

Why do triples pay so much?

Because they are very rare. A specific triple appears once in 216 rounds on average, but usually pays 150:1 or 180:1, not the fair 215:1.

Are sic bo payout tables the same at every table?

No. Payouts for triples, totals and combinations differ between tables and providers. Check the rules panel before you bet.
